Media Advisory

There have been several reports of power outages, downed trees, limbs and debris across the county this morning due to last night’s strong to severe storm.

If you have storm debris that’s needs to be picked up or discarded, you have the following options.

1. You can make a service request by calling 311 or by submitting a request for storm debris pick-up on the 311 Online web portal located on the Unified Government’s website.

2. You can place your storm debris on the curb for pick-up beginning Monday…
a. Deffenbaugh requires that debris is 50lbs or less and a maximum of 4 feet in length.
b. UG street crews will pick-up debris larger than 50lbs and more than 4 feet in length. However residents are responsible for getting the debris to the curb for pick-up. Crews will not go on resident’s property.

3. The Unified Government’s Recycling Center is open Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm if residents would like to drop off their debris

We encourage residents to use 311 to make service requests for debris pickup. This is important because it allows the UG to track pickup requests more effectively and efficiently from residents.

There’s a potential for another round of severe weather possible for Saturday evening. Hot and humid conditions will continue Saturday. A heat advisory has been issue for Wyandotte County. Due to the hot temperature and power outages, there will be cooling centers open and available at the following locations:
